A new report over at Wrestling Observer Newsletter has confirmed that one of the names WWE will be pursuing in the near future is KUSHIDA. The current IWGP Jr. Heavyweight Champion’s contract expires in early 2019. A title he is set to defend at WrestleKingdom 13 against Taiji Ishimori.
The six-time Jr. Heavyweight champion would be a great get for WWE. His style is very reminiscent of one of his trainers, former WWE superstar Yoshihiro Tajiri. He would fit perfectly on either NXT or even 205 LIVE. KUSHIDA has also stated his desire to one day wrestle Daniel Bryan, so maybe SMACKDOWN LIVE could be a fit.
While talks (according to the Observer) have been going on for weeks, we know KUSHIDA isn’t the only name being tossed around. WWE has been talking to many wrestlers whose contracts are expiring early next year. At this point in time, we will just have to pay the waiting game.
