Wrestling Inc. is reporting that Cody Rhodes has turned down an offer to return to WWE:

“Responding to a fan question about returning to WWE, Rhodes noted he had “passed on the WWE offer a few weeks ago” and felt there is a market for non-PG wrestling after the success of “All In” back in September.”

CODY is set to defend his IWGP United States Championship against Juice Robinson at NJPW’s WrestleKingdom 13.  Beyond that, we’re not sure what the future holds for the “American Nightmare”.  One could argue that he’s all but told us what his plans are (along with the rest of The Elite).  However, we’ve been worked before.  Which, in my opinion, is just fine.  We’re so plugged in via twitter and other social media outlets that there’s not much surprise in professional wrestling anymore.

The Elite has time and time again said they’ll be sticking together, and they haven’t been shy about that.  They also haven’t been shy about telling us when their contracts expire: January 1st.  Does this mean CODY could show up at Royal Rumble?  Probably not, but it’s fun to think about the crowd reaction that could happen that night.  All Elite Wrestling rumors appear to not be going away either.

I think the only safe bet is that 2019 is going to be very interesting from the get go.
