Bane and Deathstroke might be a strange pairing, but the two Batman villains are getting their own movie from DC Studios. The Hollywood Reporter was first with the news. The two are coming together for a movie under the DC Studios umbrella led by James Gunn and Peter Safran. The studio is developing a script from Matthew Orton, who wrote for the upcoming Captain America: Brave New World movie.
As of right now, there is no director attached and plot details are under wraps.
Bane made his comic book debut in the early 1990s from writer Chuck Dixon and artist Graham Nolan. He was the result of a horrific steroidal test, an accident that made him incredibly strong but also an addict to the drugs. He made his debut and broke Batman’s back, which was part of the storyline in The Dark Knight Rises where he was played by Tom Hardy. Since then, he’s made appearances in plenty of Batman comics, games, shows, and other media.
Deathstroke was introduced in the 80s as a villain for the superhero group Teen Titans. He’s a super-enhanced master assassin that has grown into one of the most popular DC villains. He was recently played by Esai Morales in Titans and Joe Manganiello played him in Zack Snyder’s DC films. He’s been a start and stop character when its come to movies, at one point as the villain of The Batman and at other points with plans for his own solo movie.
This is a developing story and we’ll keep you updated as we get news.
